• About Us

St. John’s Children’s Hospital is a special place for children and their families. We provide expert care designed to meet the unique needs of your child and family.

This is an amazing place, built by a special gift from a donor in the Springfield community to ensure our children have access to the best medical care possible, close to home.

    Our Mission

To make a difference in the lives of children and their families by delivering exceptional health care in a healing environment.

We will be the regional leader in children’s health care. Our actions will reflect our relentless dedication to:

    • foster a nurturing environment for children and families
    • be responsive and innovative in all that we do
    • be ardent advocates for children
    • promote excellence in education
    • recruit and retain the best professionals
    • improve the lives of children through research

    Family-Centered Care

A healthy child is a parent’s greatest treasure. When health challenges arise that may require hospitalization, or life-threatening conditions develop that call for extended treatment, it can be a very stressful and frightening experience for infants, young children, adolescents and their families.

A key component of our delivery of child health care services is that the involvement of parents, family members and friends serve to enhance the healing process. That’s why we take a “whole family” approach to our treatment services.

    A Regional Resource
The only comprehensive child health care facility in south-central Illinois, St. John’s Children’s Hospital provides vital health care for the region’s children, from infancy through age 18.

Established in 2005, St. John’s Children’s Hospital is part of the Hospital Sisters Health System family. Sharing the legacy of providing top quality health care services that date back to the early 1920s, we are committed to delivering superior care to our youngest of patients, their families and our community.
